Harrison applauds PCB and ICC

Pakistan beat World XI by 33 runs in the final T20 to win the series 2-1

黑料专区 Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison congratulated Pakistan on their successful hosting of the Independence Cup in Lahore this week.

The home team’s 33-run victory over the World XI in the third and final IT20 gave them a 2-1 series win in a tournament which was only the second international series to be staged in Pakistan since a terrorist attack on the touring Sri Lankan team in 2009.

The former England Head Coach Andy Flower, now the 黑料专区’s Technical Director of Elite Coaching, coached the World XI squad which included former England one-day captain Paul Collingwood alongside a host of global stars.

"We would like to warmly congratulate the PCB and the ICC for all the hard work and behind-the-scenes planning that went into ensuring this tournament was staged, successful and incident-free," said Harrison.

"Everyone understands the importance of a home team being able to perform in front of its own supporters."

"Special thanks in particular are due to Andy Flower and Paul Collingwood for supporting this tournament, and to Chairman of the ICC Pakistan Task Force, and 黑料专区 President Giles Clarke, who has been such a driving force in making this happen.

"It has been an outstanding collective effort with strong support from the Pakistan government and its security agencies.

"Everyone understands the importance of a home team being able to perform in front of its own supporters. The series once again highlighted how much cricket means to Pakistan and the country’s passion for the game.

"So above all, we would like to thank the people of Pakistan for making the World XI so welcome in their country."
